Recipe of the Week
This quick and easy Maple Balsamic Vinaigrette is my favorite DIY salad dressing. Every time I serve it, guests ask for the recipe.
2 TBSP Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
2 TBSP Balsamic Vinegar
1 TBSP Maple Syrup
2 TSP Wholegrain Mustard
1 TSP Salt & Pepper
Whisk all ingredients together until dressing is emulsified. Enjoy!
After spending too much time in extreme temperatures for outdoor Nourish events, I've been recovering from heat sickness all this week. My most debilitating symptom: fatigue.
The "old me" would have tried pushing until I ended up in a *really* tough spot. I'm proud of myself for listening to my body and slowing down and resting.
I've felt most exhausted in the afternoons, so I've retreated to my bedroom to nap and/or watch my new favorite Netflix show, Grace and Frankie.
Have you seen it?
The series stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin as the eponymous Grace Hanson and Frankie Bergstein, two aging women who form an unlikely friendship after their husbands reveal they are in love with each other and plan to get married.
It's so, so, so good. I highly recommend it.
While at the Naperville Artisan Market, I learned that Chicago is a food incubator for local entrepreneurs wanting to grow their businesses.
There were several food brands at the market that I sampled and purchased. Following are my favorites:
Avinola - Ancient Superfood Granola made with Lupini Flakes. The Double Chocolate Sea Salt flavor is DELICIOUS! Emma is allergic to oats, so I was so excited to find this oat-free, grain-free granola.
Slivrd - Simply perfect slivered almonds. All of the flavors are incredible, including: Lemon Basil, Spicy Honey, Rosemary Black Garlic, and Truffle.
Hines Brines - Bold and exotic spice blends. The Roasted Veggie Seasoning, Tuscany Seasoning Blend, and Boystown Blend 2020 are absolute musts.
BNutty - Gourmet peanut butter in fun flavors. I purchased Blissful Blueberry, but my fellow vendors were raving about the Irresistible Pretzel flavor. Yum!
Live well. Be kind.
