Gratitude as Nourishment

Note from Jamie

I like to share things that light me up, fill me with joy, and make my life easier. Nothing is sponsored. These are just things that are helping me along my journey.

 Gratitude as Nourishment

Over the years, I’ve realized that gratitude isn’t just something I feel — it’s something I practice. It’s in my nightly journaling, the meals I cook, the people I thank, and even the stretches I do before bed. Gratitude has become one of the most grounding and nourishing rituals in my life.

For me, daily practices keep gratitude alive.

Every night, I write in my Gratitude Journal — noting what worked out, who made my heart smile, and what I deeply appreciate. Coffee often makes the list. So does God. And always, Scott, Emma, and the Nourish Team.

I’ve learned from research (and experience) that jotting down just a few things can make the practice more sustainable than trying to fill a whole page. It doesn’t have to be perfect — just sincere.

I also show my body gratitude every evening before bed by stretching. What once felt like “too long” — 20 to 30 minutes — now feels essential. It’s a love note to my body, thanking it for all it did for me that day.

I practice gratitude through movement, too — lifting weights, jumping, keeping my body strong out of appreciation, not pressure.

I show gratitude through cooking. After stepping away during the busiest weeks of the year, I’ve found my way back to creating meals that are nourishing and delicious. It feels so good to cook again — a way to honor my body, the moment, and the simple joy of creating something with care.

I also show gratitude by connecting with others — writing notes, sending texts, or simply sharing a kind word. And there are the quiet moments, too: sipping morning coffee on the couch, looking out at the beauty surrounding me, and feeling thankful for the world right here.

They say grateful people are happier people — and I believe it. Gratitude doesn’t need to come in sweeping gestures. We can be grateful for it all, trusting that life is always working out for us. As we extend gratitude to others, may we remember to pour some over ourselves, too.

xoxo,

Jamie
