Cacao Powder Hot Chocolate
Ingredients
- 2 cups milk or milk alternative
- 2 tablespoons raw cacao powder
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
- Sprinkling of cinnamon
- Pinch sea salt
Instructions

In a small saucepan, combine the milk, cacao powder, maple syrup, vanilla and a pinch of salt. Whisk until smooth.

Place the saucepan over medium heat, and bring the milk to a simmer, whisking often. Give the hot chocolate a taste-if you prefer it sweeter whisk in a bit more maple syrup. Serve warm.

Prevent Clumping: Whisking the cacao powder into cold or room-temperature liquid first helps create a smooth paste (or slurry) before heating, which prevents clumping. A milk frother or blender can also help achieve a velvety, frothy consistency.
