The Beauty of Enough

The Beauty of Enough

Thank you for this new day.
Thank you for all of my blessings.
Thank you for the beauty, love, comfort, and connection all around me.

Lately, I’ve been starting my mornings with simple thank-yous like these. They’re not elaborate affirmations or lofty goals—just gentle reminders of what’s already here. The steady rhythm of this day. The small patterns of comfort. The soft hum of enoughness.

When I first learned about equanimity in my mindful self-compassion classes, I’ll be honest—I thought it sounded a little… boring.

Even. Steady. Calm.

Who wants that when life can be so thrilling, dramatic, and full of surprises?

My 13-year-old daughter and her friends certainly don’t. They love the drama. They thrive on it. To them, a day without excitement feels incomplete.

But now, I understand the beauty of equanimity. The steadiness. The gentle rhythm that holds us when life feels messy, uncertain, or a little too loud.

This week, I was reminded of this lesson while “transitioning” to my new laptop. I use the word transitioning loosely—it’s something I’d been putting off for over a month. You know that feeling when you finally sit down to make the change you’ve been avoiding?

At first, it was chaos. The touchpad didn’t work. The camera didn’t work. (Of course, they did—but not the way I like them to.) Passwords were lost, settings were off, and every simple task took twice as long. I was frustrated, tense, and impatient.

But in between the moments of exasperation, I found myself craving the calm—those sweet, steady moments where everything just flows. When the rhythm returns. When the laptop, and maybe even life, starts to “know” you again.

In a women’s group I’m part of, we’ve been exploring the theme of Enough. What a powerful word that is.

In a world that constantly tells us we need more—more success, more excitement, more growth—what a beautiful act of rebellion it is to say:

This is enough.
I am enough.
This moment is enough.

And the truth is, in this very moment, everything really is okay.

Yes, there are a dozen things happening in the background—emails waiting, worries hovering, the to-do list ever-growing—but in this breath, all is calm. All is right. All is peaceful.

There was a time when I thought calm meant boring. Now, I know it means home.

So today, I’m celebrating the slow, steady rhythm of life—the small, beautiful balance between variety and routine. Between excitement and ease. Between striving and being.

Join me in savoring these quiet moments of enoughness.
Because sometimes, the most extraordinary thing we can feel is peace.

xo,

Jamie

10-Min Routine for Bursitis & Hip Pain

I’ll admit—I was getting nervous that the pain in my hip was arthritis.

Turns out, it’s hip bursitis (inflammation of the little fluid-filled sacs that cushion the joint).

Now that I know what’s going on, I’ve been able to stretch and strengthen the right muscles to support healing.

Videos like this one have become part of my routine— gentle, targeted, and helps ease tension in the hips while building stability.

If your hips ever feel tight or sore, give it a try!

Recipe of the Week

Classic Gluten-Free Meatloaf

Scott, Emma, and I have all been craving comfort food lately—and nothing says cozy quite like a classic meatloaf.

This gluten-free version was an absolute winner at our house! It’s hearty, flavorful, and filled with finely diced veggies that make it both nourishing and delicious.

Serve it with mashed potatoes or roasted veggies for the ultimate weeknight comfort meal.

Bonus: the tomato glaze adds just the right tangy sweetness.
