Staying Put (and Finding the Magic Anyway)

Staying Put (and Finding the Magic Anyway)
Spring Break is here… and we’re headed… nowhere.
And if I’m being honest, this time of year can stir up a little something in me.
Because it feels like everyone is going somewhere.
I was just reading in my Facebook parent group that one family is headed to the Caribbean—and surprising their kids with a stop at Disney on the way home (WHAT?!). Another is off to Paris. Several are heading to warm, sunny beaches.
And us?
We’ll be right here in Bayside, Wisconsin.
Cue the moment where that little voice pipes up: Are we missing out?
Here’s what I’m reminding myself—and maybe you need this too:
It's completely normal to feel jealous.
There's nothing wrong with that feeling. It doesn’t make you ungrateful or small. It makes you human.
But while it’s normal to feel it, it’s not helpful to live there.
So I let myself acknowledge it… and then I gently shift.
First, I ground myself in reality: only about 20% of families are actually traveling for Spring Break. Which means most people are staying home, just like we are. We’re not the outliers—we’re the majority.
And then I come back to something even more powerful: the abundance that already exists in my life.
Because the truth is, my everyday life feels pretty beautiful.
Slow mornings with coffee. Journaling. Workouts that energize me. Midday lunches with people I enjoy. Being my own boss (which, let’s be honest, is pretty cool).
I start listing the “little” things that are actually very big things:
A home that feels warm and safe.
A washer and dryer in my basement (honestly, such a luxury).
A refrigerator stocked with nourishing food.
A bed that I can’t wait to crawl into.
Friends who encourage me.
Parents who love me.
The list goes on and on.
Recently, I journaled about all the things I once deeply longed for… that are now simply part of my life.
A husband.
A child.
Work that I feel passionate about.
Restful sleep.
A sense of peace.
At one point, these were dreams. Now, they’re my normal.
And then there’s this little full-circle moment I can’t help but smile about:
Years ago, when Emma was in daycare, another mom drove a car that felt so dreamy to me—an Acura RDX. I remember thinking, Someday, when I make it, I’ll drive a car like that.
Well… guess what’s parked in my garage right now?
Life has a funny way of quietly delivering the things we once wished for.
So this Spring Break, I’m choosing to remember:
You find what you’re looking for.
And right now, I’m choosing to look for the goodness that is already here.
Do I still want more? Of course I do.
But I trust that those desires will unfold in their own time.
And in the meantime, I’m going to enjoy the ride…
…in my Acura RDX.
xoxo,
Jamie

Nourish Pick of the Week
This is one of my personal favorites—and honestly, I don’t think enough people know about it.
Our Body Spray Lotion is every bit as moisturizing as a traditional cream, but lighter, more absorbable, and made with only good-for-you ingredients your skin will love.
It feels like a little spa moment at home—silky, nourishing, and finished with the most luxurious scent.
If you’ve never tried it, this is your sign.
Trust me… you’ll thank me.
Recipe of the Week
I kept seeing this recipe everywhere… so of course I had to try it.
My verdict? It’s fast, easy, and such a fun way to switch up lunch.
I found myself making the same combo on repeat. I mixed sun-dried tomatoes right into the flatbread (delicious), then turned it into a sandwich—spreading on a layer of basil almond dip (think hummus), topping it with sautéed leeks, spinach, and chicken, and finishing it off with fresh microgreens.
So good.
Live well. Be kind.
Jamie
