What Delights Us

Note from Jamie

I like to share things that light me up, fill me with joy, and make my life easier. Nothing is sponsored. These are just things that are helping me along my journey.

What Delights Us

Most mornings, I begin my day with a hot cup of coffee, my favorite journal, and a view of the trees outside my window. I sit on the couch, breathe in the quiet, and write the same words at the top of the page:

“Love, what would you have me know today?”

And then, I listen.

Yesterday, Love reminded me of gratitude.

Not the kind that’s performative or forced. But the kind that wells up when we actually pause long enough to notice the beauty that’s already in our lives.

Love whispered:

Look around.
Look at what’s here.
There is so much good.
Tend to it. Focus on it. Revel in it.

It made me think: What does it look like to live in gratitude?

It looks like being delighted.
In awe.
Intentionally thankful.
It looks like noticing. Appreciating.
Slowing down enough to really see.

It means writing thank you cards.
Sending a quick “just thinking of you” text.
Taking a walk and naming out loud the things you’re grateful for: the birdsong, the breeze, the wildflowers popping through the cracks in the sidewalk.

It means letting go of what no longer brings delight—with kindness.

And praying for the discernment to know the difference.

It means remembering. Then forgetting. And remembering again.

But this morning?

I woke up annoyed.
Agitated by the world.
People saying dumb things.
Flawed systems. Unfairness. Noise.

I sat down with my coffee and journal anyway. I wrote the words:

“Love, what would you have me know today?”

And Love answered:

Peace.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Let it go.
Focus on what brings delight.
You know how to do this.

And I do. We all do. But sometimes, we forget. That’s okay. Gratitude is a practice. A way of being that we return to, over and over again. Like a path we walk, not because we have to, but because we know it leads us home.

As we head into this holiday weekend, let’s slow down.
Let’s look for what delights us.

Let’s choose to focus on the good—not because everything is perfect, but because so much is already beautiful.

Wishing you a weekend full of gratitude, wonder, and delight. 💛

With love,
Jamie
