The One Thing

Note from Jamie

I like to share things that light me up, fill me with joy, and make my life easier. Nothing is sponsored. These are just things that are helping me along my journey.

The One Thing

It’s Amazon Prime Day.

The day when the internet gently (or aggressively) nudges us toward the idea that more is better. That joy can be delivered in two days or less. That what we really need is one more gadget, one more thing for the house, one more box arriving at the doorstep.

And yet, this week, my heart is asking me to do the opposite.

To look around—not for something new, but for what’s already here.

To clear out, not stock up.
To pare down, not pile on.
To focus on The One Thing.

I’m currently reading The One Thing by Gary W. Keller, a book about the power of intentional focus. It’s based on the Pareto Principle—the idea that 80% of our results come from just 20% of our efforts. In other words, most of what we do every day doesn’t move the needle much. But some of it does. Some of it matters deeply.

The hard part is getting honest about what that 20% is… and then having the courage to let the rest fall away.

That’s where I am right now.

This week, I wrote in my journal about the feeling of “not enoughness” that so easily creeps in—especially when we’re chasing goals, financial freedom, growth, or expansion. But instead of being met with a list of things to add or do, I felt an invitation to pause. To look around. To notice the excess. The clutter. The mess. Both literal and emotional.

What if the path to more is actually… less?

Less stuff.
Less striving.
Less noise.
Less pressure to do it all.

What if abundance is about being fully present with what we already have?

What if the One Thing is gratitude?

What if the One Thing is clarity?
What if the One Thing is finally giving yourself permission to stop juggling what no longer serves you?

I’ve been watching videos on minimalism lately—not just about empty countertops or capsule wardrobes, but about creating a life that feels light, clear, intentional, and sacred. A life where everything in it has purpose, beauty, and care. Where I know why I own what I own. Why I say yes. Why I spend time the way I do.

So no, I won’t be buying much on Prime Day this year. I’m focused on my own kind of prime: priming my life for peace, freedom, and joy. And that starts with asking one very intentional question:

What can I release to make space for what matters most?

With you on this journey of excavation and intention,
💛 Jamie
