Note from Jamie

I like to share things that light me up, fill me with joy, and make my life easier. Nothing is sponsored. These are just things that are helping me along my journey.

Last Saturday, we gathered for something rare and beautiful: a celebration of Jenny’s life, while she’s still here to feel all the love.

It was a pool party—just the way she wanted.

We laughed. We cried. We swam. We hugged. We reminisced. We cannonballed. We held each other close.

It was an afternoon of all the feels—courageous and beautiful, heartbreaking and joyful.

Jenny’s favorite friends gathered. Our family was there. People traveled from near and far, and everyone came with one shared purpose: to love Jenny in the most wholehearted, unconditional way.

There was no judgment. No awkwardness. Just deep, reverent love.

It felt like a movie. We tossed around beach balls, floated in tubes, splashed, and swam. Jenny was radiant. And I stood in awe of her friends who soaked in every last moment they could, knowing it would be their last time with her.

The joy was pure. The pain was too.

It’s a strange duality to live in—a sacred letting go while also trying to hold on.

Since then, many of you have reached out to check in on me. Thank you. For the messages, the prayers, the flowers, the dark roast coffee, the 300-piece puzzles. I’ve felt your love, and I don’t take it for granted.

I’ve also felt the sting of silence from some who are normally part of my life. And that’s part of this grief journey too—acknowledging the anger, the disappointment, and the tender truth that people can love us and still let us down. I’ve done the same. I’ve missed the mark. I see it now with a new kind of compassion.

On Monday, Jenny started hospice. She’s home, and we’re all here with her, doing our best to care for her while keeping things light, funny, and “normal,” just the way she wants it.

We laugh. We say silly things. We give her anything she wants. Because it helps us feel like we’re doing something.

I’ve had sacred moments with my mom—walking together in Grant Park, hearing stories I’ve never heard before. These moments feel like gifts tucked inside the grief.

Jenny is still very much Jenny. Her symptoms are starting to show, but her spirit is fierce and full. Her courage leaves me awestruck.

And yet, we wait. We don’t know how long we have. There are moments when I pray for a gentle and swift transition so she doesn’t suffer—and moments when I feel deeply grateful for one more hour, one more day.

Grief is weird. It holds everything at once.

Please keep praying for Jenny. For me. For my family. Your love carries us more than you know.

And please continue to support Nourish. My team has been amazing, holding it all down so I can be fully present here. Every order, every note of encouragement, every act of kindness—it all means the world right now.

Thank you for walking with me through this. Truly.

With love and reverence,

Jamie
