The Wellness Habits That Aren't Instagram-Worthy

The Wellness Habits That Aren't Instagram-Worthy
I was chatting with another maker at an event this week, and our conversation drifted to something that has been on my mind lately.
We live in a culture that is constantly chasing the next thing.
The newest phone.
The newest trend.
The newest wellness hack.
The newest supplement.
The newest version of ourselves.
We're surrounded by messages telling us that what we already have isn't enough and what we're already doing isn't enough.
And yet, when I look at the habits that have made the biggest difference in my life, they're not exciting at all.
In fact, they're pretty boring.
Going to bed early.
Taking a short walk after meals.
Spending a few quiet minutes outside in the morning.
Writing a handful of things in my gratitude journal before bed.
Stretching, even when I'd rather skip it.
None of these habits are flashy.
None are particularly impressive.
None would make for a very exciting social media post.
But together, they've changed how I feel.
More energized.
More grounded.
More grateful.
More well.
And that's what I've been thinking about lately.
It's fun to try new things. I enjoy discovering new ideas, products, recipes, and approaches to wellness. Curiosity is a wonderful thing.
But sometimes I think we underestimate the power of consistency.
We don't need a brand-new routine every Monday.
We don't need to feel guilty because we're not doing the latest thing everyone is talking about online.
A "boring" routine still matters.
In fact, it matters a lot.
Because wellness is rarely built in grand gestures.
It's built in ordinary moments repeated over and over again.
The early bedtime.
The short walk.
The nourishing breakfast.
The gratitude practice.
The stretch before bed.
The choice to keep showing up for yourself in small ways.
Lately, I've been practicing another habit that falls into this category: contentment.
For much of my life, I've focused on what's next—the next goal, the next milestone, the next achievement.
Now I'm trying to notice what's already here.
This morning, a drive that normally takes 15 minutes took nearly 30.
Instead of feeling frustrated, I found myself feeling grateful.
Grateful that most mornings aren't rushed.
Grateful that I get to begin many days slowly on my couch with a cup of coffee.
Grateful that I work from home.
Grateful for a life that already contains so many things I once hoped for.
It's easy to get caught up in what we don't yet have.
I'm trying to spend a little more time appreciating what is already right in front of me.
Because there's a lot.
The habits that change our lives are rarely the ones that get the most attention.
They're the quiet, ordinary choices we make day after day.
The ones nobody applauds.
The ones that don't make headlines.
The ones that simply help us feel a little better today than we did yesterday.
And over time, those small choices add up to something extraordinary.

Jamie

Nourish Pick of the Week

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who took the time to leave a product review during our anniversary celebration last week. I am so grateful.
If you left a Google review and haven't received your Nourish Gift Card, please email me by responding to this newsletter.
I have two gift cards waiting for reviewers I haven't been able to identify, and I want to make sure everyone receives the gift card they earned.
Recipe of the Week
Scott had been craving Shrimp Scampi, so I gave this recipe a try—and it was delicious!
It's buttery, garlicky, full of flavor, and comes together in about 15 minutes. I served it over Aldi’s Simply Nature Hearts of Palm Linguine and it made an easy weeknight dinner.
Enjoy!
Live well. Be kind.
