The Power of Showing Up

Note from Jamie

I like to share things that light me up, fill me with joy, and make my life easier. Nothing is sponsored. These are just things that are helping me along my journey.

The Power of Showing Up

There’s a version of success we don’t talk about very often.

It’s not flashy.
It doesn’t always photograph well.
It won’t necessarily go viral.

But it quietly changes everything.

It’s showing up.If I’m honest, I credit the majority of my life—the business, the relationships, the opportunities, the joy—to this one simple choice: I show up.

I say yes.

To invitations.
To things that stretch me.
To things that scare me a little.
To hard work.

To people—on their best days and their worst days.

Not because it’s always convenient. Not because I always feel ready. But because somewhere along the way, I realized something important:

People matter.
And presence matters. One of my friends still talks about a season of her life when everything felt heavy. Her brother had just passed, and grief was sitting in every corner of her home.

I didn’t have the right words. I didn’t try to fix anything.

I just showed up.

I’d stop by during my lunch break, and we’d sit on the couch and play mancala. Quietly. Simply. Just… together.

It wasn’t big. It wasn’t profound.

But it mattered.

Our friendship is stronger because of those small, ordinary moments of choosing to be there.Showing up has shaped my business in ways I never could have planned.

I’ve done a lot of events over the years—more than I can count. Early mornings, long days, unpredictable weather, booths to set up and tear down.

And yet… those events have given me so much.

Friendships with other makers.
Deep connections with customers.
Retail partners who started as conversations across a table.
Unexpected invitations.
Moments on the news.
Memories I’ll carry for a lifetime.

And yes, revenue too—but honestly, that’s just one piece of it.

None of that would have happened if I had waited until I felt “ready,” or “perfect,” or “certain it would be worth it.”

I just showed up.It’s not only the big, visible things.

It’s the quiet, daily ones too.

Showing up in the morning for a cup of coffee and a few moments with my thoughts.
Showing up to move my body, even when I don’t feel like it.
Showing up to cheer for my daughter—loudly, proudly, wholeheartedly.
Showing up at a friend’s art show.
Showing up to personally thank a new retail partner.
Showing up to learn something I don’t yet know how to do.

It all counts.

It all builds something. And here’s something I didn’t expect when I started living this way:

When you show up for people… they show up for you.

Not always immediately. Not always in the same way.

But over time, it becomes this beautiful, steady circle of care.

You cheer for someone, and one day they’re in your corner.

You listen, and one day you’re held.
You support, and one day you’re lifted.

It’s not transactional. It’s human.I don’t show up perfectly.

Some days I feel unsure. Some days I feel messy. Some days I wonder if I’m doing enough or being enough.

And still—I show up.

In fact, I think that’s part of it.

The willingness to be seen in your humanness.
To not have it all figured out.
To say yes anyway.

Because life doesn’t wait for us to become perfect versions of ourselves.

It responds to our presence. My life is richer, more meaningful, more connected, and more fun because of this choice.

Not because everything has gone smoothly—but because I’ve been there for it. Fully in it.

I’ve said yes and figured it out along the way.

I’ve shown up to cheer people on.
I’ve shown up to share what I’ve learned.
I’ve shown up to help others rise.

And in doing that, I’ve slowly become the version of myself I used to wonder if I could be.So this is your gentle nudge.

Not a lecture. Not a checklist. Just an invitation.

Show up.

For yourself.
For your people.
For the moments that feel small but aren’t.
For the opportunities that feel a little uncomfortable.
For the life that’s waiting for you to step into it.

It really does matter.

More than you think.

xoxo,

Jamie
