NOURISH TOGETHER - WEEKLY NEWSLETTER - 8/29/24
Note from Jamie
I like to share things that light me up, fill me with joy, and make my life easier. Nothing is sponsored. These are just things that are helping me along my journey.
Earlier this week, Emma and I narrowly escaped a significant car accident. To be honest, we didn't escape it. We were divinely protected from it. (For those of you who believe in angel numbers, this happened at 4:44 p.m. Amazing, right?!)
We were pretty shaken up. We kept replaying in our minds the car that seemingly came out of nowhere and turned right in front of us.
Here's what we did to process the situation:
- We repeatedly checked in with one another and talked about what happened as we finished driving to Emma's volleyball practice.
- We moved our bodies to release the stress and fear. Emma played volleyball. I went for a walk and literally shook the emotions from my body.
- I called Scott and texted a few friends for advice on how to best help Emma process what happened. I needed the social support because I wasn't thinking clearly. (They encouraged me to let Emma take the lead.)
- Scott welcomed us home with the biggest hugs and told us we were miracles.
- We continued to "feel our feels," talk through our emotions, and physically move the fear out of our bodies.
- Over the next 24 hours, Emma needed extra hugs and reassurance that we were safe. (I needed them, too.)
- I practiced yoga that focused on my Root Chakra.
- Emma and I used our grounding sleep mats.
- I journaled and repeated the mantras: "I am safe. I am secure. I am protected."
- What I want you to take away from this story is the importance of taking care of both your mind and body when processing traumatic experiences. One part is not more important than the other. They both matter.
xo,
Jamie

The Root Chakra Roller Blend has been my go-to since the car incident.
The Root Chakra is very connected to feelings of safety and security.
I roll on the woodsy blend of essential oils and remind myself that I'm grounded and protected.

Recipe of the Week
One Pot Gnocchi Chicken Pot Pie
Scott loves chicken pot pie, so he was DELIGHTED when I made this recipe for dinner.
It’s ultra comforting and flavorful. Plus, it comes together in one pot in less than 30 minutes.
Enjoy!
