NOURISH TOGETHER - WEEKLY NEWSLETTER - 8/1/24
Note from Jamie
I like to share things that light me up, fill me with joy, and make my life easier. Nothing is sponsored. These are just things that are helping me along my journey.
My daughter, Emma, finishes summer camp next week. She then has three weeks off before school starts.
While I consider myself a good mom, I'm not necessarily an overly fun mom, so I reached out to fun mom friends for ideas on what Emma and I can do together during her time off. Their suggestions were fantastic.
Mom Camp
- Make a bucket list together, where she writes down four things she wants to do before summer ends, and you add three or four as well.
- Create your version of "Mom Camp," which includes an outdoor activity, a craft, and a house project each day, with plenty of downtime.
Volunteer
- Volunteer together at a local charity or participate in Random Acts of Kindness (RAKs).
Creative and Cultural Activities
- Engage in DIY projects like pottery, rock painting (and hiding the rocks around town), or crafting at home.
- Visit a flower farm and pick your own bouquets.
- Go on a day trip to another city, explore the local attractions, and take fun photos.
- Plan a fun dinner together, shop for ingredients, and cook together.
- Do a library visit once a week, coupled with coffee and reading time.
Outdoor Adventures
- Explore nature through hiking, biking, paddleboarding, or a bike ride to the beach for a picnic lunch.
- Learn new activities like pickleball or geocaching.
- Search for sea glass at local beaches.
Shopping and Outings
- Go back-to-school shopping.
- Go thrifting or do a Goodwill challenge.
- Enjoy a shopping, lunch, and coffee day together or try out a $5 movie Tuesday at Marcus Theatres.
Special Activities
- Try a "This or That" day where you randomly pick places to go for coffee, lunch, shopping, and activities.
- Create a scavenger hunt for her and a friend to do around your area.
Health and Wellness
- Spend time on skincare routines together, exploring new products or DIY treatments.
I look forward to wrapping up summer with my girl with several of these fun ideas!
xo,
Jamie
