On Hustle, Healing, and Honoring Your Time

Lately, time has been asking for my attention.

Not in a frantic, deadline-driven way—but in a softer, more soulful whisper. With the rainy, reflective weather as my backdrop, I’ve been thinking about how we relate to time. How we fill it. How we honor it. How we sometimes run from it, and how other times, we long for just a bit more.

A woman I know recently told me that her calendar is so full she can’t take any impromptu meetings. That sentence struck me. Her calendar is so full that life is unable to surprise her. No room for magic. No room for breath. How often do we live like that—so tightly scheduled that spontaneity and wonder get crowded out?

Another woman, in what many would call the “prime” of her career, confided in me that she’s stepping back. She’s tired. She doesn’t want to climb or hustle right now. She wants to heal. She’s choosing peace over pressure. Her story is one I’ve heard often lately—high-achievers reaching a tipping point, craving rest more than recognition.

And, I understand. I’ve been learning this in my own body, too. As I embrace a new fitness routine, I’ve had to rewire my beliefs about effort and results. Pushing hard every day isn’t the answer. Recovery—true, intentional rest—is what allows strength to build. Quick, purposeful movements often do more than slow, steady strain. It’s not just about time spent, but how that time is used.

Someone very special to me is nearing the end of their life. It’s a strange thing, knowing time is short and trying to figure out how to make it count. How do we know what’s “enough” time with someone we love? How do we resist the temptation to measure moments in quantity, when the heart knows that presence and quality are what truly matter?

In conversations, in quiet moments, in my own breath—I keep coming back to these questions:

  • When is it time to hustle? And, how can we be gentle with ourselves in that hustle?
  • When is it time to slow down? What does a sustainable pace actually look like?
  • Have we taken time to define what a meaningful day feels like to us?

Time is not something to conquer or control. It’s something to move with. Something we can dance with, if we allow it. When we honor it—not just in how we spend it, but how we feel within it—we begin to live in alignment with what matters most.

There is so much hope in that.

There is hope in redefining success not by the number of boxes we check, but by the peace we carry in our hearts. Hope in knowing that we can change the pace. Hope in remembering that joy, healing, and connection often live in the spaces we leave open.

So today, I invite you to pause. Just for a moment.

  • Ask yourself: How do I want to feel in the time I have?
  • And then: What’s one small thing I can do today to honor that feeling?

Let’s not fill every moment. Let’s feel them.

Let’s not rush through time. Let’s live it.

With love and gentleness,
Jamie

Workout of the Week

In a world that often asks us to go faster and do more, stretching is a quiet rebellion—a way to slow down, check in, and soften.

This week, I’m sharing a 30-minute stretching and flexibility video that’s become part of my own evening ritual. I stretch for 15–30 minutes each night before bed, giving my body the care and kindness it deserves.

These slow, nourishing movements help me release the day, reconnect with myself, and ease into restful sleep. If you’ve been moving through life on high speed, this is your invitation to pause and unwind—one stretch at a time.
