My Word for the Year: "ASK"

My Word for the Year: "ASK"
Happy New Year, Friends!
For the past many years, my word of the year has been Intentional. I was so drawn to that word. I’m a visionary at heart — I love opportunities, I go with the flow, I get excited about what could be. “Intentional” felt like a gentle but stabilizing structure that I needed in my life. Loose enough to allow me to be who I am, yet grounding enough to help me stay true to my path.
This year, though, a new word keeps whispering to me: ASK.
I’ve been getting curious about what “Ask” means and how it shows up in my life.
To me, it feels like:
- Curiosity.
- Openness to opportunities.
- Humbly confident.
- Collaborative.
- Rooted in mutual benefit — not of desperation or one-sidedness, but of true win-win possibilities.
One morning, as I sat with this word, my meditation app shared a daily reflection that referenced Matthew 7:7:
“Ask and it will be given to you;
Seek and you will find;
Knock and the door will be opened to you.”
I smiled. Later that same morning, my devotional shared the exact same verse. (Okay, universe — I hear you.)
So I started paying attention.
Yesterday, during a meeting about Nourish’s 2026 Marketing Strategy, one of my teammates asked, “Jamie, what do you really want for Nourish?” After I shared my vision, I realized that maybe “Ask” is also about playing bigger. About asking for what I really want — and then going after it.
I’ve been practicing this idea in small ways.
A friend of mine is hosting an event I’ll be attending, and I pitched her an idea that I thought was pretty cool. She liked it, but it didn’t fit her vision for the event, so she said no. She offered an alternative, but it didn’t align with my vision, so I passed.
That exchange felt good.
No resentment, no hard feelings — just mutual respect and clarity. Neither of us had to compromise our truth. That felt powerful.
And when I brought a bold new marketing approach to my team — something that would really shake things up — I hesitated at first, worried about stepping on toes. But I asked anyway. And you know what? They’re totally on board. We all feel great about it.
Asking takes courage. Some people will say yes, some will say no. But either way, it leads to more authenticity. More direction. More information.
Both the yes and the no can be good answers.
So as I step into 2026, I’m still exploring what “Ask” means — but I already know this much: I want to be more courageous, more authentic, and yes, still intentional.
Here’s to a year of asking boldly and trusting that the right doors will open.
With love and curiosity,
Jamie
Inspiration

Nourish Pick of the Week
Not to toot my own horn (toot, toot!), but when people compliment my long, healthy hair, I’m always happy to tell them that the only product I use is our Hair Thickening Spray.
Yes, it helps thicken hair and, yes, it supports new growth, but did you know that it also works as a natural mousse — giving instant volume and a beautiful shine?!
My husband Scott is a big fan, too. In fact, I think it might just be his favorite Nourish product!
Workout of the Week
Over the holiday break, a friend introduced me to a new YouTube fitness channel called Nourish Move Love — and I’m hooked!
Lindsey, the creator, is a busy mom of three who shares quick, effective home workouts that help you feel stronger inside and out.
Her philosophy resonates so much with me: doing the physically hard things makes us more capable of handling the mentally hard things.
I’ve already tried several of her routines, and they’ve been such a refreshing mix of strength, energy, and encouragement.
Give one a try — I think you’ll love her approach as much as I do!
Recipe of the Week
Ground Turkey Rice Bowls w/ Bang Bang Sauce
Scott, Emma, and I loved this one!
These quick and easy ground turkey rice bowls are simple enough for busy weeknights but bursting with flavor.
The turkey is browned with soy sauce, sriracha, and garlic, then topped with a creamy-spicy bang bang sauce that takes it to the next level.
Add rice, your favorite veggies, and a drizzle of that sauce — and you’ve got a fresh, colorful dinner the whole family will devour!
Live well. Be kind.
Jamie
