The Value of “Good Enough” ✨
Note from Jamie
I like to share things that light me up, fill me with joy, and make my life easier. Nothing is sponsored. These are just things that are helping me along my journey.
The Value of “Good Enough” ✨
When I graduated and started my first job, my manager taught me a lesson I’ve carried with me for more than 25 years: sometimes, things just need to be “Good Enough.”
Back then, I didn’t realize how much that advice would support me later in life—especially as I’ve worked to release perfectionism and people pleasing. While I still love putting my stamp of excellence on everything I do, there are plenty of times when GE (good enough) is exactly what I need.
Here are a few examples from just this past week:
- Emma’s volleyball team has a potluck. Instead of making a dish from scratch, Scott will bake some refrigerated cookie dough before they head out. Good enough. 🍪
- My workouts were shorter and less energetic than I’d hoped. I usually aim for 40 minutes, but I got in 20. Good enough. 🏋️♀️
- For Emma’s first day of school, we didn’t make a fancy sign. Scott just added some text to her photo before posting. Good enough. 📸
- I responded to texts with short replies instead of long notes. Still, I showed up. Good enough. 💌
- This Thursday Newsletter went out on Friday. Good enough. ✨
The truth is—we can’t be all things to all people all the time. Trying to be perfect in every area only leaves us exhausted and resentful.
Good enough thinking allows us to conserve our energy for what really matters, while also offering ourselves compassion and grace.
Most of the time, I show up and give my very best. But when life is full, or my energy dips, I remind myself: I don’t need to be perfect. I just need to be good enough. And that, my friends, is more than enough.
xoxo,
Jamie
Inspiration
Nourish Pick of the Week
We snapped this fun photo of our family sitting on hay bales at the farm over the weekend.
What you can’t see in the picture is the huge scratch the hay left on my leg!
I’ve been applying our Intensive Healing Balm day and night, and it’s been such a relief—soothing, protecting, and helping my skin heal beautifully.
Truly one of those products I’m always grateful to have on hand.
Workout of the Week
Honestly, I wasn’t in the mood to work out—but this quick 20-minute Legs & Glutes session was just what I needed.
Using weights and a glute loop, it fired up every muscle, left me feeling stronger, and reminded me why I love strength training.
I can see and feel the difference in my legs, and that’s the best motivation of all!
Recipe of the Week
Scott, Emma, and I devoured this one!
Classic desserts aren’t always easy to make gluten- and dairy-free, but this peach cobbler turned out beautifully—sweet, juicy, and absolutely delicious.
Live well. Be kind.
